1975 Artesia Bulldogs vs Goddard Rockets Artesia's Bulldogs are alive, well and kicking this 1975 football season. Even a pre-game rain which soaked the field a Bulldog Bowl before and during the first quarter of Friday night's football game failed to dampen Artesia's spirit, or game. And very likely that, had the field been dry Friday night, Artesia would have come away with a lot more than just a 21-0 victory over the Roswell Goddard Rockets. The Rocket have never beaten the Bulldogs

You know what is really a SAD thing! I have attended EVERY SINGLE home State Championship game since 1964.....State Championship games that were played in Artesia, whether it be at the old Morris Field, or whether it be Bulldog Bowl. Just talking about the HOME games now.....although I have attended quite a few out-of-town State Title games. And here is the SAD thing......when I look at these videos of State Title games that were played in ARTESIA.......Quite a few of them I have absolutely NO memory of! I mean, I know that I was in the stands....because I know for a FACT that I have never missed a State Title game in Artesia since 1964........yet I have NO memory of the game. How sad is it that Artesia has played in SOOO many State Championship games that a person can't even remember them all?

lol crispy,
I remember a few things, texas oil and his twin sons came down and watched the game with us, the state championships held in Artesia will draw a lot of alumni back home to watch. I remember Denver Williams playing a great game on Defense, his pick and his defensive touchdown. The Belen rb was all the hype, he got his yardage when all was said and done but it was a very quite almost 200 yards I believe, bend but didn't break on D. Taylor Null was pretty pin-point with his passing game as well. It was a good day all around.

Would be interesting to see the 1991 Danny Vigil show. Yeah I said it. 34-24 - 2016 vs. St. Pius 22-12 - 1999 vs. St. Pius 28-14 - 1991 vs. Goddard 31-7 - 1959 vs. Las Cruces 20-0 - 1954 vs. Highland

As a former player I’m really interested to see the 99 pius game from what I remember it was a cold rainy day that didn’t suit the Artesia passing offense too well

Had we kept the ball on the ground, we probably would have won. Defense held them to two touchdowns and a field goal. Them boys were big.

Fun footage to watch. Looks like it was played at old Aggie Memorial. Was LCHS still just the Bulldogs back then, or had the name already been changed to the Bulldawgs?

Las Cruces High was the Bulldogs until around 1979 or 1980 I believe......they changed to Bulldawgs around that same time, to the best of my memory....I could be off by a few years. But I know they were Bulldogs when I was at AHS and I graduated in 1976.
