Starters should get 28 in the first 10 mins Pull them stick in everyone else and let them play their hearts out. Give them some build and keep the starters healthy for the showdown in Roswell. Something tells me it’s gonna be a good game then.

I definitely expect a mercy rule, but I could see a slow start. We haven’t proved to travel very well. If we get off the bus like we did in Deming (which is likely), it may take awhile to get going. The coaches have a difficult job this week keeping the team focused/excited with this match up.

I think it's us and Roswell and there is a big gap to #3 & 4. It will be a good game I believe, Roswell is the Devil that knows us, we won't surprise them or catch them off guard with a lot of stuff and vice versa, it's going to be an intense game I feel. And welcome to the board!

Seeing this on Santa Teresa / MaxPreps home page:
“ Latest Updates Game Results On Friday, Sep 29, 2023, the Santa Teresa Varsity Boys Football team forfeitted their game against Artesia High School by a score …”
Have they been hacked?

Trivia: Has there ever been a team artesia has played to have opening kick off returns in every single game they played against them? There is right now. Dessert warriors have had the openning kick off returned in them every single time the bulldogs have played them. It’s sad fact but a true one.

Wow interesting. I was watching with a couple friends and I said that kick going for 6. Sure enough.
ST was bad they couldn’t do anything right. Did they even have postive yardage? Hopefully this is the last one.
53-0 game at halftime.

Hopefully this is the last one. 53-0 game at halftime. I think it would be better if Artesia even reintroduced Portales to the schedule instead of ST. Closer in terms of traveling and would be more competitive. Heck, maybe even Canyon or Randall would like to play. Artesia would be better than them playing Clovis.

Get used to it? If the NMAA has their way- which they do!! They will be voting in “super districts” this year. Artesia, Roswell, Goddard, Mayfield, Deming, Gadsden, Santa Teresa, Chaparral. You can expect several games that resemble last night- every season.

Yeah we haven’t brought up the proposed realignment. www.abqjournal.com/sports/nmaa-discusses-2-realignment-wrinkles-that-could-affect-high-school-football-across-the-state-next/article_c02145f4-580f-11ee-b022-afe83c5cd9c9.htmlThere could be two new and interesting football-related wrinkles on the horizon when the member schools of the New Mexico Activities Association are realigned for that sport for the 2024-25/2025-26 two-year block. It appears that the NMAA is going to be creating larger football districts, in an effort to help teams with their schedules. This would specifically reduce the number of nondistrict games they’d have to book, which has been problematic for many schools. Going larger would, of course, greatly reduce the number of football districts in all classes. “(Our board of directors) asked us to look outside the box,” NMAA executive director Sally Marquez said. The current Class 5A division is perhaps an example of how this might look. That class has 16 schools and could conceivably be split into two huge districts. Currently, the 16 are divided geographically. The eight in the northern half of New Mexico are Valley, Highland, Del Norte, Manzano, Miyamura, Los Alamos, Piedra Vista and Belen. But, until the NMAA receives 40-day student counts from all its schools, it cannot begin to plot new football districts, especially because there could be any number of schools whose enrollments might move them either up or down in classification. The second wrinkle would be of particular interest to football programs who have been struggling. The NMAA is interested in implementing something similar to that in Oregon. The Oregon model allows a team the option to petition to play down a class if that team has an in-class winning percentage of 22% or less over the previous two years. Oregon’s 22% is based on a nine-game schedule, or two wins. New Mexico likely would go with two or fewer victories. Marquez said there were 10 or so programs that might be able to take advantage of such a policy in New Mexico. That includes Rio Grande, a school with 6A enrollment numbers but which has been competing as an independent for the last few years. “I think that would be real practical for us,” Rio Grande athletic director Pete Pino said. “I would favor something like that, because it would give the kids a chance for district play.” Marquez said the NMAA is still working on creating a firm list of criteria to address all of this. The NMAA will unveil its classification and realignment plans in late November at its next Board of Directors meeting, when that structure will be voted on for 2024-25 and 2025-26. Individual schools would then have the opportunity to appeal their placement if they so desire.
