The defense may have to carry the team this year. I realize you need all three D, O, Special Teams but some times one is stronger than the other, so the D and maybe even the Special teams may have to carry the team this season I don't know if they will be ready to 'carry' the team. You guys are going be believers in the changes. I think there will be youth at key positions. But I beleive big time in the changes taking place! I think they will be dominating again very soon!

How is the QB position shaping up? If both these guys are similar in skills, I think you go with the soph, he has the pedigree and not to mention he will be around for 3 years. I just hope a choice is made one way or the other mainly, i'm sure both will help us compete on the field somewhere. I say the best performer gets the job whether its a soph, junior or senior. Like you said the other player can help somewhere else. I just hope we don't go with the dual QB's again. I don't think that ever works for anyone. Let's go Bulldogs, you can, and you will!!!!

I don't know about sticking around for "3 years". I thought the other guy who moved to Texas was going to stay through graduation. I just don't assume anymore. One other good player is playing soccer and the other stayed with basketball. Of course I don't know him so he may stay around for three years. Good luck to the person who's playing soccer and the other who stayed with basketball. IMO as long as they get a good education and go forward. That's the most important.

Wow by what I read on here the morale has been way low and it sounds like the 'dogs need to reload. What's going on ? It sounds like there will be a lot of sophomores and Juniors this year. I think the morale can begin to lift if those who live in Artesia can fill the stands. Gotta get out there and show support. I know I will be watching on stream line or listening on the radio and cheering these boys on to victory. I respect you Rapid and I know you have much more knowledge about Bulldog football but I have to disagree with you. If the players are allowed to read the board I hope this is a motivator for them to give all they have and the bi-product will be wins. I think the defense will be improved this year. Go 'dog one game at a time, beat Lovington. Go Raiders beat SMU. I will be watching the Raiders on ESPN and the 'dog on the internet on August 30, 2013. Go 'dogs, Go Raiders..... Well....has it occurred to anybody that maybe that is the exact reason for some of the posts in this thread? I know that I am not above using a little bit of reverse psychology. One of the best ways to get somebody to do something is to tell them that they can't get it done.

"Our coaches and players are already growing tired of hearing the so called fans in Bulldog nation along with the players who QUIT say that they, the 2013 Bulldogs, are not going to be any good this year because the real players QUIT. This fact alone has them motivated more than a usual Bulldog team is motivated."
I agree with this!! Those "Real Players" that quit, to me are not real players......They are QUITTERS!!! I may piss some people off with this post but im tired of the acceptance of mediocrity in this town. FFS, it seems like home games are glorified social events............"UM Yeah......Im at the game...........Um Yeah i don't know whats going on but im in front of five thousand people and I look cool..." Ill tell you this, if that's your attitude stay at home and watch it on the internet. For those of you that think we will win only 2 games this year, are you willing to put some money where your pie hole is?? PM me lets make a bet. This team this year will shock the hell out of you!!! These guys that quit on the team because all the "good" people left.......are guys that will end up quitting in everything in life unless they change their attitude. For those of you that allow this mentality in our young people, SHAME ON YOU!!!! I see where they get it.......
I was a senior on the 99 team. Our best player, JP Barta moved back to Corpus. That was a kick in the nuts.....you know what we did? We worked harder. When everyone counted us out, we put 50 on the board. It sucked, but we never gave up. Sure its easy to just give up. When one person leaves, it opens the door for another to be great! So GO Bulldogs! I choose you to finish 8-2. I'm giving it to us in some close ones that can go either way! Why? Thats what REAL fans do. For those of you that think we will struggle because the "real players" aren't here, go bury your head in the sand for the next 5 months, we don't need you anyways!!!!

My Kids knew if they ever quit something they would not be able to come home. In my Consulting Business we teach Executives that you can only expect your employees to come to your lowest level of expectations. It sounds like to me there are some in Community who have lower expectations. I don't care if you start 22 Sophs expect to win and set your Goal to WIN STATE.

I stand behind bulldogbooster45. I love Artesia and the sports programs here. No doubt the players that quit will be missed but our boys wear Orange and White and Artesia on their chest. There is no dying attitude in a bulldog and i promise these boys will fight til the end and as a fan I will be there as well.
GO DOGS TAKE STATE!!!!!

I don't think a football player who quits one sports because he wants to play another sport is a quitter. I don't think anyone who moves to another town and plays with one of the best football teams in west Texas and Eastern New Mexico is a quitter. I don't think that a person who writes that 'dogs will be 2 and 8 is a weak bulldog fan. They are making choices but that doesn't make them quitters. I know on of my sons decided to quit football with the John Marshall Rams in San Antonio and to play Soccer and I fully supported him. My other son's decided to continue football for the Rams. I chose the dog's would be 7 - 3. So respect those "children" who choose football, basketball or soccer and support them. Respect the opinions of those who choose the 'dogs will be 2 - 8 although you don't have to agree with them. Remember education Reading, Writing and Math as well as the other academics are more important in the "game" of life. Go dogs prove me wrong with the 7- 3 guess or predictions, go 10 - 0.

I only take issue with one thing. If you begin a sport, as in during the season, and you do not finish the season, that is called quitting and should not be sugar coated on any board including this one. That doesn't mean anyone needs to be bashed on here, but call it what it is---quitting. If they do not "come out" for a sport they have previously played, as in chose to not even begin, that, I will agree is not quitting. I will hold my kids accountable and they will not quit anything they start, no matter what. I'm their father and that is called preparing them for the bigger things in life. I think if people don't consider character education on par with the academics, they have never understood athletics or sports to begin with.

I concur. I remember Josiah my son wanted to quit 8th grade football but he stayed in and played MLB. He enjoyed his season. I would not let him quit.

Those that choose another sport, good luck. I was directing my post more towards those that quit because they "knew" we would be down. I feel that others chose another sport for that reason as well. I feel like if you were a starter last year, then you have an obligation. However, i will stand toe to toe with anyone and say that i learned more about life on that football field than i did in the class room. The trials and tribulations are much more than learning from a book/lecture, studying and passing exams. I am a better person to society and my community because of what this program did for me. I hope that these young men and women are still getting these life lessons.

He never misses a game, home OR away! He was also probably one of the top 2 DEs that has ever played for Artesia. He was EXTREMELY instrumental, and played a key role in one of Artesia's state title victories......having recovered a key fumble when the opposing team was within the 10 yd line and driving to put the championship out of reach. He holds the Bulldogs to a higher standard than most. A lot of former Bulldogs are like that. And because of others on here he deleted his vote, either that or he changed it to something else. I hated to see that.

I know this man. When the 'dogs are up in Albuquerque area I sit with him and win or lose we have a good time but cheer for the kids. This man is a BULLDOG ORANGE BLOODED MAN. I don't think he necessarily changed his vote because of others on here but I'm not sure. I think he deleted his vote cause he made a mistake. He mentioned Hobbs two times. I wished his nephew would play but I wish him luck in basketball. Anyway, I disagree with my friend, I still think the 'dogs will be 7 - 3, but I hope I'm wrong, I hope they are 10 - 0. Go, 'dogs beat the Lovington Wildcats.

Rapid is the real deal. As passionate about his orange blood as anyone I know. I was proud to have him supporting us at the bowl on game night in the mid eighties. Win or lose he never left us. He made his mark in Bulldog history in the mid seventies and is as die hard as John Trainer, Bob Lyons and Mr. Caudle were before him. As one of the best Bulldog fans there ever has been said, "He is Bulldog born and Bulldog bred, And when he dies(hopefully decades from now), he'll be Bulldog dead!"

I think AHS Bulldog nation may have a clearer picture of this season's team although it will not be the complete picture when the 'dogs scrimmage. Questions, Will they scrimmage? who will they scrimmage? will it be LC Onate again? Will the scrimmage be on line? Anyway just getting excited about my favorite sport and favorite HS football team. I know I try to keep up with my favorites in Texas too, like the Lubbock Estacado Matadors, I started keeping up with the Plains Cowboys last season and with my friend who coaches at Wayland Baptist, Butch Henderson and of Course Texas Tech Raider Nation. I won't forget in spite of BPG's opposition the Dallas Cowboys. I know I can't wait to watch Landry Jones in the preseason games, hopefully he will make the Steeler's roster. It sure does feel good to be on vacation and browse, browse, browse...
