Don't overlook Carlsbad either, they played us very tough at home last year, just barely pulled it out, they return a strong group and some good size. Goddard is not that good

I am the one who voted 5-5. I am not feeling good about this season AT ALL! We will lose to Valencia, Carlsbad, Clovis, Las Cruces, and Goddard (AGAIN).

Come to think of it, Del Norte showed some spunk against us, I think they return several as well, but it's in the Bowl this time. There is so many questions I don't think you can say any game is a gimme this season.

I don't believe Valencia will beat the Dogs. I voted 6-4 but hoping we can challenge Goddard by season's end.

Wow by what I read on here the morale has been way low and it sounds like the 'dogs need to reload. What's going on ? It sounds like there will be a lot of sophomores and Juniors this year. I think the morale can begin to lift if those who live in Artesia can fill the stands. Gotta get out there and show support. I know I will be watching on stream line or listening on the radio and cheering these boys on to victory. I respect you Rapid and I know you have much more knowledge about Bulldog football but I have to disagree with you. If the players are allowed to read the board I hope this is a motivator for them to give all they have and the bi-product will be wins. I think the defense will be improved this year. Go 'dog one game at a time, beat Lovington. Go Raiders beat SMU. I will be watching the Raiders on ESPN and the 'dog on the internet on August 30, 2013. Go 'dogs, Go Raiders.....

The last losing season Artesia had was 1989, Cooper first year in Artesia going 3-7. We have broke even and went 5-5 in 2000 and 1995.

Yes, a lot of players have left the team, but it's not like we won't have anyone in those spots. Next Man Up!!!! They will be young but our style of offense can keep us in a lot of games. I think we at least go 5-5 and make the playoffs. Anything can happen in the playoffs as has been proven! 2010 anyone?? How about Aztec beating Goddard a few years ago, that should have never happened but anything can happen on a given Friday or Saturday!

I voted 2-8. Dogs will lose to Hobbs, Valencia, Hobbs, Carlsbad, Las Cruces, Clovis, Goddard and Del Norte. The Dogs will struggle this year, alot of players left the team You listed Hobbs twice on your list so I am not sure if you believe we will lose to Lovington, Roswell, or Deming in your predicted 2-8 season. I realize that predictions are just our opinions and that the teams will actually suit up and play to determine who will win, but I will throw my 2 cents in too. There is virtually no way we will lose to Lovington, Hobbs, Valencia, Roswell or Del Norte. Although 7on7 tournaments don't really mean that much, I have seen three of these teams this summer and they will not out athlete us. The two teams I haven't seen in Valencia and Del Norte have good athletes returning from last years squads, but they are traveling to the bowl this year and that is definitely in our favor. I normally would put Deming in the list as virtually no way we lose to them, but I have talked to some people that have seen Deming and this may be one of the best teams in their history so they are sure to be tough this year. Having said that, we have history on our side as they have never beat us and although we play them there, I truly believe we will once again come out on top. Our coaching, our system, and our tradition along with our athletes will beat these teams without those players who QUIT. Our coaches and players are already growing tired of hearing the so called fans in Bulldog nation along with the players who QUIT say that they, the 2013 Bulldogs, are not going to be any good this year because the real players QUIT. This fact alone has them motivated more than a usual Bulldog team is motivated. Now for the balance of the schedule. Carlsbad, Las Cruces, and Goddard are harder to figure because they are always tough, but each of these teams lost a lot to graduation so they too are somewhat young and inexperienced. Carlsbad has their big and fast QB back in Holcumb and their line is really big and strong so they are once again going to be extremely tough, but they lost some skilled position players and defensive players that will hurt them. Goddard returns their stud player in French, but they too lost a lot to graduation. They have beaten us every game over the past few years with the exception of the semi finals in 2010, but I feel this actually plays in our favor. We have some new ways of thinking on defense and Goddard does what they do in running the ball. If our new defensive philosophy is working like our coaches plan on it working, Goddard may be forced out of their comfort zone and have to throw the ball which normally is not their strong suit. Las Cruces will be starting a sophomore at QB in the coaches son and also lost a lot to graduation, but they are a 5A team who also have a strong tradition and they are always going to be tough to beat no matter what we have. Clovis, in my opinion, will be the toughest to beat for us as we seldom beat them anyway. Clovis has exceptionally strong tradition, they are always going to out athlete us, and they have arguably the best running back in the state in Cass who may very well hold all of the Clovis rushing records after this season which is definitely saying something. Yet, they too can be beaten if our defense can execute and force them to come out and throw the ball some. Clovis has history on their side as they very seldom lose to us, and frankly they shouldn't being a much larger school. I feel worse case scenario, we go 6-4 during the regular season, but I also feel we could go as good as 9-1. My completely irrelevant prediction is that we go 8-2 losing only to Clovis and Las Cruces. One more thought for all the "Goddard owns us" crowd. I believe that our programs #1 goal is to win state every year, not beat Goddard. We obviously want to beat them and every other team on our schedule, but it is not the end all be all. Take a look at the state titles both in this decade and then go back as far as you like. We might not beat Goddard every year during district play, but we definitely win more titles than them or anyone else. For this decade so far ('10, '11, '12) we have a title and Goddard has a title. Go Bulldogs! TAKE STATE!!!!

So some quit the football team but they may be in other sports such as soccer and I think that is ok, as long as they stay active and represent Artesia well. Sometimes as someone said change is good. New coaching blood is good for teams. Go Dogs. One game at a time...First in Line - Lovington, beat the Wildcats....

Godogs09 - I absolutely love your post. Awesome analysis. I think some people are writing these Bulldogs off and that can't be anything but a positive for this team. I am once again excited about Bulldog football myself. I think we have a chance to be much improved on defense. We just need experience and that is what the pre-district games are for. I have seen Bulldog teams be 0-5 before and win a State Championship. I am bummed about losing the players but if they don't want to be there, we don't need them there messing things up. Coach Henderson will find a way to make this team competitive.

How is the QB position shaping up?
If both these guys are similar in skills, I think you go with the soph, he has the pedigree and not to mention he will be around for 3 years. I just hope a choice is made one way or the other mainly, i'm sure both will help us compete on the field somewhere.

The defense may have to carry the team this year. I realize you need all three D, O, Special Teams but some times one is stronger than the other, so the D and maybe even the Special teams may have to carry the team this season

Well well well, what is going on Artesia. So even the announcer quit? R U Serious, is this the Twilight Zone?
Dogs will beat Hobbs Rapido, hell our team quit and we will still beat them like a rented U-Haul, they have no excuses.
Good Luck and God Bless, don't worry I'm not quitting, I shall return!
