This team doesn't play well on the road, no defense whatsoever on the road.
It's a trending pattern, and not a good one.

I think the defense thing has more to do with the quality of opponent than the road

In 3 games we are giving up an average of 38 points on the road. Hobbs Valencia Alamogordo
It won't cut it later in the season, got to tighten it up.

I realize that but all three of those teams run balanced offenses., that along with Las Cruces (played in the Bowl) who also runs a balanced offense are the ones we have trouble with. The other teams we held to low points are all one dimensional and Carlsbad was hurt, down to the 3rd QB. Its not the road! It's not like we get loud and crazy on 3rd down at Bulldog Bowl. All three of the teams you listed are pretty good offenses. Alamogordo was 5-1 coming in with the only loss to Mayfield. We are also playing lots of kids right now, we will see if that continues into district season. Are they keeping them fresh or gaining experience for next year during the pre-district schedule? With all that being said, I hope they get it tightened up also but the competition gets a little easier with the exception of Goddard until the playoffs.

A great offense will win you a tight game , but a great defense will win you a championship

A great offense will win you a tight game , but a great defense will win you a championship I agree, but when have we had a "great defense" under Coach Henderson. We have had good defenses, enough to get some stops and then outscore people. This is not meant as a knock at all, but "great defenses"? Coach Henderson's record speaks for itself, we don't need to be second guessing anything. Great Defenses were with Phipps and Harvey! Good enough defenses under Henderson. Just my opinion.

That's true. Phipps and Harvey always had several two-way starters; Cooper likes to two-platoon.

I noticed that Wilkinson played in the kick off team last night. Would that make him a two way starter?

I noticed that Wilkinson played in the kick off team last night. Would that make him a two way starter? No there are several starters that play on Special Forces. It is an honor thing and I think somewhat voluntary if you want to play special teams. There is a special practice to attend for special forces. Travis has showed his is good at covering kicks in recent weeks, he is also returning kicks. Turning into a really good player, a difference maker!!!

There was some great Defenses under Worley, especially 97 they were nasty. They were loaded though, serious talent on both sides of the ball. I've seen this play out before in 2012 we had a lot of firepower on offense and took a 2nd round exit at home. If the offense has to play near flawless football and score every time to win games, that's a lot of added pressure. Defense has seem to play better at home, I think they have the potential to step it up, if they do I think we can make a deep run in the playoffs.

Did you ever watch a TW Harvey defense, no offense but if not you ain't seen nasty! In my opinion, we have always fielded a bend but don't break defense, I think Coach Henderson would agree. That is his philosophy, make em drive the length of the field to beat you. We have played better at home but Belen is one dimensional and Carlsbad offense with their 3rd QB was just vanilla. Deming is always Deming, will play hard and score a little but don't scare anyone! Las Cruces, I don't know that we played good defense except the last play. Again, just my opinion.

Rapid .... from 1982 to 1984 seasons, there were no less than 6 guys that started both ways for those teams. I think in '84 we had 8 guys that played both ways.
That was Coach Phipps last year and the first two years of Coach Harvey.
