Woot woot! I just wish Duff would've went down at the 1 yard line and just run out the clock instead of scoring and giving the Hawks some life.

Good idea in theory, but you know what they say about hindsight. Besides, didn't Centennial have a couple of time-outs left anyway? I can't remember if they did or not. Anyway, you see the end zone right in front of you and you just gotta punch it in.....I think it's a rule or something.....kind of like "never take points off the board", lol. Great game, by the way! The ride home on the team bus should be a good one! Lot's of fun! Way better than the other way around!

The ride home on the team bus should be a good one! Lot's of fun! Way better than the other way around! I think they had 1 time out left. Even with 2 timeouts and only 45 seconds, it'd still seal the game by going down in the field of play. Of course I understand adrenaline and the end zone in front is very hard to fight! But the greatest odds would've been to run out the clock (not to say that could backfire, but the chances are super super slim as opposed to giving the ball back to the Hawks). Either way, glad they got #29!

What a way for Cooper to get his first win over Ocampo. Way to go Dogs! Heck yah!!! I never thought about that angle.....This win today was MORE than payback for those 4 losses to Manzano! I am just very thankful for the fast start! We would have been totally screwed without it.....going up 21-0 to start the game. An excellent example of why the first half is just as important as the second half. No matter WHAT happened at the very end of the game, we actually won this game in the 1st half.......the 1st quarter even! Every single play counts, no matter if it comes early in the game or on the very last play!

You guys know that I'm pretty good friends with DC Jeff Willingham. Have been for over 30 years. Anyway, if you've had the pleasure of meeting him, you know he's an intense, firey guy and coaches with a chip on his shoulder, no use for anyone not from Artesia etc. He is always confident and believes the kids and coaches will find a way to get it done. I spoke to him several times this week, and texted a bunch as well. At one point I told him, "No one giving you guys much of a chance. What do you think?" He got fired up instantly and said, "WE KNOW WHO WE ARE!" LOL. He's a combination of Norton and Dickerson.

I swear, that guy never ages..........he looks the same today as he did when he was 29. I would like to know what that guy's secret is, lol.

Good defensive play call by Artesia's defense coach on the last 2 seconds of the game.

Just got home, what a game, kind of typical of our last 2 playoff games, we got a good lead, then here comes a momentum swing and the Hawks get back into and it came down the wire with us holding on to win the game and State Title #29.
So yeah Henderson defeats Ocampo when it matters most, and we ruin the perfect season as well for Centennial. It was a pretty satisfying victory.
They are raising the #1 tonight at the Bowl and the 2015 Bulldogs cement their place in Bulldog History. I'll have highlights sometime tomorrow most likely.

I listened to the game on a Las Cruces radio station's broadcast. The two announcers kept wondering why Centennial didn't run the ball more the first half, since that's what it does best. After the game they were speculating that spreading the city's football talent among four high schools now likely will dilute each school's prowess for the next few years.
Meanwhile, congrats to the the 'Dogs! Well done and well-earned.
