If you go to the raising tonight, it would really be nice if someone would post photos of the #1 as it looks after we win state. I tried to explain it to someone who had never seen it (and can't go tonight) but I think I just confused them. Thanks.

You are about the 1,000,000th of us to make that comment. LOL. Peter Pan Really? I haven't seen any of those comments. It was just a personal observation of mine....how strange. No, I mean I will run into people I went to high school with and they will mention Coach D and say, "you know he never ages."

I agree. What the heck do they think they've been doing the last 4 years? Do they think if you go up to 6A you get to pick the kids that go to your school and Las Cruces and Mayfield will have dibs cause they've been in 6A longer? Sounds like some of the people in Roswell that thought they should be able to have separate schools but combine the athletes for sports.

I was watching my film I took that pass interference call on us at the very end, to give Centennial an extra play and move them up in the red zone was a terrible call, the ref was behind the action, the ball hit the centennial player in the chest and bounced off him, no prior contact before the ball got to him either. A horrible call, luckily it didn't decide the game but it gave them 1 more shot to extend the game and maybe overtime. nobody is going to be perfect but sheesh that wasn't even close, to throw the flag in a situation like that it better be blatant to me. Oh well just venting

It has been studied that home field advantage is exactly that. Referee do tend to make calls that favors the home teams.

That's my thinking on this, too. These two LC radio guys weren't griping, just speculating that since Centennial moves up to 6A next year, the city's athletic talent being spread out among four high schools might make 6A state football titles dry up for a few years.
They also said that Centennial already has the largest enrollment of the four high schools and that Mayfield's enrollment has dropped to the point that it's now borderline 6A anyway, though it likely will opt to stay in 6A.
For those who attended Saturday's game: where were the officials from, and how good a job did they do? I saw Randall's comments on that pass interference call.

I don't follow Centennial that much but listened to the game, keeping up with the other three schools is enough but since they are going to 6a next season I guess I will start following them more. I think Ocampo should gone for the TD at the 1-2 yard line at the beginning on that 4th down instead of that failed field goal attempt. Just punch it in. Then some other calls he made?? As far as the refs, not one was from our district they were a combination of others from other districts...mainly north I think. Some refs just make lousy calls period. I don't think the refs favored any team...they really didn't make that many calls.

Overall I would say they did a good job, but that call was very critical and it was botched, the ref wasn't even in positon to make the call to me, he could only see their backs, ball hit the hawks player in the chest and went to the ground as our two defensive backs converged on him after that. There was another play when the Hawks snapped it, then the QB calls timeout after it goes over his head and we pick it up and score, but supposedly timeout was called before the snap and it could have been by Ocampo on the sideline, but it surely wasn't called by the Hawks on the field before the snap. Like I said overall pretty good job, there wasn't a lot of penalties called and for the most part the refs let em play.

"" spreading the city's football talent among four high schools now likely will dilute each school's prowess for the next few years."" Rumor I heard in Albuquerque a couple of weeks ago, was that Moriarity was goin to file a lawsuit against NMAA for allowing Centennial to start in 5A, even tho,,,they were at 6A attendance numbers when they first opened school classes. They were goin to file if Centennial did win the 5A title. I'm kinda glad the Bulldogs "saved" them from spending lots of attorney's fees,,,,,,although,,,,seems like I remember some years back that Moriarity DID file a lawsuit against NMAA,,,,,and Won,,!!!!! And if memory serves me right it was over re-districting,,,,,,,

Better we beat Centennial in Las Cruces with questionable calls against us than here with questionable calls against them. Everyone would have a conspiracy theory on that one for sure, LOL! Really proud of the defense this year. They pretty much saved the day through the playoffs, at least. Lots of seniors leaving this year (23 according to the paper) so several new names and faces to learn next year.
Look forward to trying to pass Arkansas' Little Rock Central (32) and South Dakota's Sioux Falls Washington (39) over the next 10 years or so.

Nice video. Who'd they present the blue trophy to there early on? I didn't catch the name. Sounded like "Mr. Freer" or something.

We were in Roswell Monday, and I picked up the Sunday paper to read while waiting on the shopper of the family. The sports editor, AJ Dickman, had a nice, and long article on "Artesia Goes back to Back". I'm glad we ain't the only ones questioning that bad pass interference call as he makes a point to question it himself,,,!!! Mayhaps, I should clip the article and send it to NMAA,,, The official that made that bad call needs to know he is being looked at,!! LOL
