Great job by Landry, dominating performance and great stats. Still though, I would hesitate to place them above LSU in the polls, based on defense alone. OU defense was killer this game, LSU defense is killer every game.
Once LSU plays Bama on the 5th things will fall into their correct places.
Go Bama!

Landry update: has 9,730 career passing yards (and is starting to stretch out his OU record in that category). If healthy, he should be well past 10,000 career yards by the end of this month.

OU's Landry Jones isn't worried about NFL Draft right now Quarterback staying focused on Sooners' season right now. By Travis Haney, Staff Writer, thaney@opubco.com Oklahoman Published: October 11, 2011 NORMAN — Oklahoma fans can relax in knowing the NFL is not on their quarterback's mind — at least not yet. With lowly Kansas on deck, Landry Jones is immersed in a 5-0 season for the No. 3 Sooners. The junior is not yet concerned about the April draft, should he choose to even enter it. “We'll wait until after the season to see where I'm at,” Jones said Tuesday. “I haven't made a … I haven't thought about that much yet.” Some scouting services have Jones projected as high as a top-five pick. He has been consistently rated as the No. 2 quarterback prospect in the class. Jones is behind only Stanford's Andrew Luck, who is considered a once-in-a-generation talent. Would there be a certain round or ceiling — top 10 or top five — that would influence Jones' thinking, one way or another? “I haven't really put much thought into it, to be honest with you,” he said. “I really wouldn't know until I get in that situation or really understand what anyone's basing that on or against. “It'll be a big decision. I'll definitely have to think about it, but I just have to see how it is after the season, what kind of position I'm in.” Jones is the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week after throwing for 367 yards and three touchdowns in a rout of Texas. He had 305 of those yards and all three touchdowns in the first half. Jones has 1,814 yards, 13 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 69.3 completion percentage — for a QB rating of 159.6 — in the first five games. Just because he's not yet thinking about the NFL doesn't mean he isn't interested in that as a career choice. “It's definitely exciting,” he said. “You get to do this as your job. I'd rather do that than anything else. That's what I'm working toward. But right now, my mind's not on that. I'm trying to win games around this place. If the opportunity comes, that's great.” One additional factor is fiancee Whitney Hand. Hand is a redshirt junior guard for the OU women's hoops team, meaning she is eligible to return for a fifth season in 2012-13. “I definitely would have to think about that, for sure, and talk to her about it,” Jones said, beginning to smile. “I mean, I did propose to her. I kind of have to include her, you know?” Sooners coach Bob Stoops said he doesn't have specific advice for Jones — or any other player — about whether to stay or leave. He is more into informing players about the pros and cons of leaving school for the NFL. “I want him to really make an educated (decision) and have a full understanding of all it entails,” Stoops said. “For instance, look at the history of the draft and how many guys went out as quarterbacks that had another year, compared to the guys who didn't. “Who knows this system and game better than Archie Manning? His two sons were pretty special. They didn't go out early. It's worked out pretty good for them. Seems to have worked out pretty good for Sam (Bradford).” Stoops said OU sometimes even brings in agents to speak with players about what to expect. Jones said he had not personally participated in that consultation. “We orchestrate that and do it through our office, so it's done properly — as opposed to behind the door somewhere,” Stoops said. “It's really just about being smart about it.” Read more: newsok.com/ous-landry-jones-isnt-worried-about-nfl-draft-right-now/article/3612542#ixzz1aZxBgSuh

Phil Steele's mid-season All-Big 12 team. Note the guy listed as first team QB. www.philsteele.com/All_Conference/2011midseason/big12.htmlIf this link has been seen on any OSU boards, they're melting down right now. The Pokes are obsessed with the notion that the media is "pro-Gooner" and conspires to keep the plucky Cowboys down in football.

Another milestone reached by Landry: 10,000 career passing yards. He now has 10,093 yards in 2 1/2 years as the starter.

What about on the heisman front? I'm bias but his passing yardage is better than most or all the qb's ahead of him, plus he is on the #3 team in the nation. Not sure what else he could do, just seems like he is kinda getting sweep under the heisman race for now. I know Landry doesn't care if he is probably in it or not, but I want to see him at least get invited, I think he deserves it, especially at this point and time and I don't see him slowing down the stretch either. espn.go.com/college-football/heisman11/

The last 2 Heisman winners have been from the BCS champions Auburn and Alabama. I think if Landry and OU win out and face Alabama for the title, it will be between Landry and Trent Richardson from Alabama. It would be a house divided for me being that I live in Tuscaloosa and a Bulldog and my wife is for Bama. Anyway, I am hoping for a Sooner versus the Crimson Tide for the championship.

Just saw the on-line ABC Coverage Map for this weekend's OU-TT game. All of New Mexico, except for Hidalgo County (Lordsburg, which gets programming out of Tucson), will get the Sooners-Raiders game.

The OU and TTU was a good game. I think the better team lost similar to the Las Cruces and Clovis games, I think the 'dogs were the better team. I once witnessed an athiest defeat a christian on the discussion of God's existence. At least the athiest made more sense according to the crowd, but I know God does live not just exist. Being a TTU ex-student deep down I was cheering on the Red Raiders. What I liked is that these two QB's are from small towns. I think Doege played at Wolfforth, Texas and of course Landry played in T-Town. But I do think the better team lost. I wish Landry well the rest of the season.

The OU - TTU game goes to show that anyone can win on any given Friday or Saturday game. The 'dogs need to be aware of the next two games and playoffs.

I got two degrees from Tech, and I have two kids there right now. I was rooting like crazy for the Red Raiders last night, and I am very glad they won. They are just a couple plays from being undefeated themselves, losing to the Ags and K-State. All that said, I hate it for Landry Jones. He is a good boy with a strong witness, and I am proud that he came from my neck of the woods. I hope they overcome and finish out without another loss, they could still be playing for a National Championship. They have a very quality schedule ahead and some strong wins could put them back in the title game.

MacDaddy, you sound like me and the Lobos. I want Dallas Bollema to do well and I even want UNM to succeed … but head-to-head I gotta take my Aggies.
As far as Landry and Oklahoma go, I've always been a fan of OU because my Mom was born in Norman and grew up around Noble. Landry was just the cherry on top but it’s only been since he’s been there that I’ve actually kept up with them enough to “know” most of the players. I sometimes wonder how these kids can play with so many expectations and hopes riding on their shoulders. They seem to handle the pressure well but you’ve got to remember that they’re still just kids and sometimes "stuff" happens. OU fans (except me, of course) are some of the worst “whiners” in the nation and their expectations are usually way too high. They’ve been spoiled too long. Maybe if they had to suffer through being a fan of NMSU or UNM for a season or two, they might not be so judgmental, LOL! They'd probably just turn into fair-weather fans.
I’m hoping for the best, but I have a feeling that even if they “win out” all hopes of Heisman consideration and/or a national title appearance aren’t in the cards. They'd have to have plenty of help from other teams around the country. Heck, it’s possible that should the only undefeated team be LSU or Alabama and everyone else with high enough BCS numbers has one loss, then the national championship will be LSU vs. Alabama. ESPN, the BCS and SEC would love that scenario. They might even take the one loss SEC team over an undefeated Boise State team because of it’s strength of schedule problem. If Stanford, Clemson or even Kansas State can end up undefeated, I think they would probably take them over a one-loss SEC team but who knows. Just depends on who they think will bring in the most money.
It’s still quite possible, however, for Oklahoma to win the Big 12 and at least go to another BCS Bowl if they can get themselves back on track and play like they did against Florida State and Texas. I’m not really sure how it would play out if two Big 12 teams have only one loss since there isn’t a championship game anymore. I’m not even sure if two teams from the same conference can both go to a BCS bowl or not. Oh well ... hope springs eternal.

I'm an OU grad (Class of 1980) from an OU family (all four of us have at least one OU degree, including my folks - who were there during the 47-game streak). And I'll still admit that some OU fans embarrass the heck out of me.
People who rip the players and act like the team owes them something need to stop and remember the 90's. That really should take care of the impatience right there. UNM had a better team than OU did at times in the 90's (actually, they were pretty good in 1993, '96 and especially '97).
