It's not size,it's the population. NM does not have the population.

I think Artesia did that with the quarterbacks. I don't recall their name names however it was under the Cooper regime not too long ago. When Artesia was near the goal line to score, Cooper placed the heavier QB in as QB. Does anyone remember?
HMMmmm,,? I can't recall that,,not saying Cooper did'nt do that tho,,, I wouldn't want to do that with my Quarterback tho,,
My "Bruiser" would be the biggest heaviest lineman on the squad and have him practice every day during Off Season on proper way to protect the ball,! Pretty dang hard to stop a 280-300 lbs "thing" coming at you at full speed. I expect Jeremy just loved sending in his 285lbs "Bruiser" on all their goal line stands,,,,,against our 160 lbs D line.

IMO the NMAA needs to drop down to 5 Classifications based on enrollment for all sports. 20 teams in each classification. Four 5 team districts in each class. That gives you 4 district games in each district. Also require that you play 4 non-district games in your classification. That leaves you 2 weeks to play rivalry games vs anyone in another class. Seed the tournaments - playoffs on your record against teams in your class only.
It might have to be tweaked a little for the smaller schools, 6 & 8 man. But I don’t see why it would not work in the top 3 Classes. I think it is B.S. that you play in one class for one or two sports and play in another class in other sports. If you want to play up that is your choice. Schedule your games get on a bus and play the games. May the best team win.

Not sure if anyone on here watched the football game last night between Clovis and Cleveland. Athletes all over the field making plays on offense. Both even had a few of their best players going both ways. Neither defense came close to stopping the other. Believe Clovis had 1 stop all night on an interception and Cleveland had 2 on an interception and forced punt. 1 punt all night. Think it’s safe to say nobody really is playing defense these days or the offenses are just way ahead of the defense. I know everyone here is fustrated with Artesia’s play on defense but honestly as bad as it may look. It may just be in the spectrum of normal from what I saw last night. Clovis has talent both sides of the ball. Was impressed with how far they have under their new coach

Was impressed with how far they have under their new coach I see where Clovis and Cleveland scored a combined 99 points -- that many points means lots of kickoffs and clock stoppages. How long did the game take to play?
I admit I'm getting tired of these old AFL-style shootouts at the college and high school levels. That's great if you like offense, but I just think things are getting out of hand, points-wise.
I always appreciated low-scoring games with good defense. Maybe not the most exciting style of game, and TV doubtless would hate a 10-7 or 14-10 Super Bowl or D-1 national championship game.
Hope the defenses can catch up and start slowing things down some.

Remember when Artesia played Cleveland 47-33 in Bulldog Bowl this year? Not too bad huh. To me that was one of our better games of the year, I really was surprised with that outcome.
Possibility of Rio Rancho vs Cleveland and Roswell vs Goddard for State Titles. Those would be a first.

Offenses run amuck is not just a New Mexico phenomenon. Last night Allen, Tx played Rockwall in a 6A Div. I regional playoff game. Allen ranked #8 and Rockwall ranked #11 in the state. They had 1,176 yards of total offense and had a combined score of 119 points (Rockwall won 69 - 59). Don’t think either defense got off the bus.

Saw where Arlington Martin put up 71 on Permian.
And I see where Andrews (where Tom Harvey is coaching) scored 63 on San Elizario last week and 56 against Pampa last night. The Mustangs next play Springtown (near my old stomping ground) in regionals.

The dogs offensive scheme works against Goddard. Los Lunas 35 Goddard 14.

The dogs offensive scheme works against Goddard. Los Lunas 35 Goddard 14. Not the same. They are a run first team. Jeremy does things differently. The basic program is the same like not having 2 way players. He also does not alow players to take off their helmet outside the locker room until the game is done. He does not allow players to sit or kneel outside the locker room. But his offense is a run first almost a power type offense. Throws to catch the defense off guard.

I agree, Rick,,,,
#1. HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE. I can vouch for those people over there are HUNGRY for a championship,,! Very loud and extremely supportive of their team. #2 THEY HAVE THEIR 284 lbs "bruiser" that Roswell's front line WILL get out of his way,,after the first quarter. #3 They have Re,,,,ooops,,I meant Jeremy as Head Coach. He may be young, but is very obvious he knows his football
